International Relations: Europe and the Middle East (Major Specialization)

The Bachelor’s Program in International Relations is based on contemporary theories and research methods. The program offers students fundamental knowledge about international relations, global politics, international organizations, and regional (Europe/Middle East) studies.

About the Program

The International Relations program at Ilia State University provides students with the opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge of international systems, global governance, foreign policy, and international security issues.

The program includes research and practical components, which enable students to engage in the analysis of international processes within the framework of courses, assess global events, and independently develop recommendations on international policy issues. Within the program framework, in addition to English, students learn one additional regional language. The program combines contemporary research methods and international experience, which gives graduates a competitive advantage in the job market.

To enroll in the Bachelor’s Program in International Relations, candidates must have passed the Unified National Examinations following the procedures established by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

  • Qualification to be awarded — Bachelor of International Relations
  • Language of instruction — Georgian
  • Program duration — 8 semesters (4 years)
  • Number of credits to be accumulated — 240 ECTS

 

To obtain a bachelor’s degree, students must accumulate 240 credits, distributed as follows:

  1. Major Field of Study (120 credits)
  • Specialization mandatory courses — 36 credits (including Introduction to Contemporary Thinking I and II — 12 credits)
  • Europe/Middle East module mandatory courses — 30 credits
  • European/Middle Eastern languages mandatory courses — 36 credits
  • Specialization mandatory-elective courses — 18 credits
  1. Free Component: General Module (60 credits)
  • Academic Work Techniques — 6 credits
  • Statistics — 6 credits
  • English language courses — 24 credits
  • Introductory courses — 24 credits
