The 3-year Bachelor’s Program in Finance prepares competitive specialists in the finance field for successful professional careers in various types of organizations. Graduates will be equipped with the theoretical knowledge and analytical skills necessary to perform multiple finance-related functions and will participate in effective financial management of organizations. Additionally, the program offers students opportunities to broaden their intellectual perspective and develop transferable skills such as argumentation, communication in Georgian and English, and academic capabilities.

About the Program

The Bachelor’s Program in Finance enables students to acquire the theoretical knowledge necessary for performing various finance-related functions while equipping them with the skills needed for effective financial management of organizations. The combination of theoretical and practical components supports their skill development for successful professional careers in various types of organizations.

The Bachelor’s Program in Finance was developed considering the best international practices and feedback from all stakeholders (including employers). Individual course syllabi were created within the framework of collaboration with leading companies in the field. For example, financial accounting and audit courses were developed in partnership with the Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors of Georgia and closely align with corresponding modules of the professional certification program (ACCA), with accreditation (credit transfer) opportunities within the same program.

The Finance program was developed in 2011 and updated in 2024 during the reaccreditation process. It is periodically updated to reflect field trends.

Learning Resources

Program Faculty – Leading specialists and practitioners in the field deliver the bachelor's program through a team of academic and visiting faculty. They are constantly engaged in contemporary research, international collaborations, and practical activities.

Infrastructure and Other Resources – Information computer resource centers, fully equipped lecture auditoriums, university library with diverse collections and rich electronic resources including international databases, the university network "Argus" for student registration and educational process management, and distance learning platforms Turnitin and E-learning, university and/or faculty centers contribute to improving academic quality and ensure achievement of learning outcomes envisioned by the program.

Practical Skills Development – The program ensures the development of students' practical and transferable skills through both individual practical components and practical work and assignments embedded in courses. Notable is collaboration with Ilia State University's entrepreneurial ecosystem supporting structures (Tech Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Center, pre-accelerator Zoom-out, Entrepreneurial Innovation Laboratory Fab Lab, and university representation of Startup Grind). This enables students to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions with the support of qualified personnel and modern equipment. Additionally, the program incorporates research institutes at Ilia State University (Business Research Center) and partner organizations to enhance practical skills development.


Erasmus+ Exchange Programs

Students have the opportunity to participate in one or two-semester mobility within the Erasmus+ program framework at partner universities, gaining European education and experience that provides competitive advantages in both local and international markets.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates of Ilia State University's Bachelor's Program in Finance can be employed in entry-level managerial and analytical positions in finance within the private or public sectors.

To enroll in the program, candidates must have passed the Unified National Examinations as required by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

To obtain a bachelor’s degree, students must accumulate 180 credits, distributed as follows:

  1. Major Field of Study (120 credits)
  • Finance program mandatory courses – 102 credits
  • Finance program elective courses – 18 credits
