Public Relations (Master’s Program)

The Public Relations Master’s Program is a practically oriented master’s program. Students are professionals employed in PR, marketing, strategic communications, social media, and advertising/digital agencies who strengthen their theoretical and practical skills in public relations and strategic communications.

The master’s program aims to prepare highly qualified and competitive professionals in the field of public relations who can effectively use contemporary theories, research skills, and the latest planning and evaluation approaches in their professional activities. They will be able to determine public relations strategies and tactics for organizations and manage internal/external communications while considering professional ethical norms. The program also aims to develop critical and strategic thinking skills as well as the ability to operate in the constantly changing environment of public relations.

Understanding Current Industry Trends

In addition to theoretical and practical education, master's students are involved in exploring current local and international trends in the field. For the development of the field, "Tbilisi PR Days" is held annually, featuring both international and domestic experts as speakers who introduce students and industry professionals to current trends in PR and strategic communications. The annual "Copy Break" event is the only event in the field that shares current information in copywriting with attendees.

International Collaboration

The program collaborates with various universities in Central Europe to share knowledge in the field. Students spend one semester studying at universities in France, Germany, Poland, Italy, and other European countries through exchange programs.

Scholarships for Outstanding Students

Students with high academic achievement systematically receive various scholarships from local municipalities and international organizations.

Employment Opportunities

The vast majority of students are employed.

After completing the educational program, graduates have the opportunity to work in public relations departments in both private and public structures, as well as in specialized communication agencies. Graduates have the opportunity to continue their studies at higher academic levels.

Admission to the master’s educational program “Public Relations” is based on general master’s examination results and internal university examinations.

After passing the general master’s examinations, candidates wishing to enroll in the master’s program “Public Relations” must:

  • Confirm English language competency (confirm reading ability at B2 level)
  • Pass an internal university oral examination

Within the Public Relations Master’s Program, students must accumulate a total of 120 credits/ECTS to obtain the qualification.

  • Program mandatory courses – 66 ECTS
  • Program elective courses – 30 ECTS*
  • Master’s thesis – 24 ECTS

Note: If desired, students can take courses up to a maximum of 18 credits from any master’s program at Ilia State University out of the 30 credits
