Social Work (Master’s Program)

ILIA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Social Work Master’s Program aims to prepare highly qualified social workers who will be able to: contribute to ensuring the well-being of at-risk individuals, communities, and society by implementing changes at micro, mezzo, and macro levels; use contemporary knowledge and practical experience in the field of social work to identify problems and make effective decisions; use acquired knowledge and experience for social advocacy; and consider ethics and professional standards in professional activities.

Degree awarded: Master of Arts in Social Work

Language of instruction: Georgian

Program duration: 120 ECTS credits, 4 semesters

Admission to the Social Work Master’s Program is based on the results of the general master’s examination and an internal university oral examination, during which the following will be assessed:

  • The applicant’s knowledge and understanding of global and local social problems
  • Motivation and academic achievements
  • Communication skills
  • Knowledge of the English Language (minimum level B2)

The Social Work Master’s Program includes 120 credits, including:

Mandatory courses: 66 credits

Mandatory practice: 24 credits

Elective courses: 12 credits

Master’s thesis: 18 credits
